my parents got me a dachshund pup for my 6th birthday in Oct 1960, and once she grew up she took over the back yard and ended my Dads gopher problem! She would spend the day out there digging after one of these gophers and pretty much cleaned them out and they never came back. Wonderful dogs and here I am at 63 and my dachshund is curled up in my bed asleep
Dachshunds were originally bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Burrowing is a natural instinct.
